Government does not want to pay salaries to these people and has deliberately kept it vacant and whence the priority of education for the Government. Result: High attrition in private colleges which pay low salary to these lecturers who are anyway in abundance. If Government would have filled all the posts, there would have been a competition of output between Government and private institutions. As a result, private institutions would have paid competitive salaries to ensure quality output. At the moment, both Government and newly instituted private institutions are competing with each other at the expense of misery of students and lecturers alike, while parents pay through their nose for their ward's education. Collusion, convenience and individual enrichment of well connected few who run private colleges is the story of our PU education.
