Mangaluru: Minor girl's sexual harassment – Man gets five-year imprisonment

Mangaluru, Jan 15: Additional district and sessions court (POCSO) and FTSC – 1 court judge justice Manjula Itti sentenced an accused in a sexual harassment case of a minor girl to five years of imprisonment.

Bejai Kapikad resident Shekhara alias J D Chandrashekhar is the accused who was convicted by the court.

On June 21, 2022, convict Shekhara was painting the Hathill judges quarters parking area when he sexually harassed a minor girl.

A case in this connection was registered in the women police station of the city. ASI Srikala had filed a chargesheet in the court.

Justice Itti sentenced Shekhara to five years of simple imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 1000. In addition, the judge also ordered him to pay Rs 1 lac to the victim minor girl.

Public prosecutor Sahanadevi argued in favour of the government.
