Mangaluru, Jan 18: The Instagram account of Ullal police station inspector Sandeep has been hacked by miscreants. The hackers are demanding money with many people. Sandeep has shared this complaint on his Facebook and Instagram account.

A fake Instagram account of Sandeep is opened and demand is made with his friends for money. The hackers are saying that Sandeep is in financial difficulties and everyone has to shell out Rs 7500 each. As Sandeep came to know about this through his friends, he has promptly posted the hacking of his account on both Instagram and Facebook.

An online hackers’ network is constantly hacking the Facebook and Instagram accounts of eminent personalities including city police commissioner N Shashi Kumar as well as journalists. Many cases are filed in cyber cell of the city, but the trace of hackers is not found.

According to sources, hackers are transferring money to the bank accounts of farmers of North India origin. Then they pay a small amount to the farmers and take the rest by getting the OTP of their account. When the cyber cell police freeze the account to which the money is sent and reach north India, they come across hapless farmers. The real culprits never get caught.

The cyber police station needs to be centralized. Frauds are occurring at international level and throughout India also. As the cyber cells are under state police department, investigation is not taking pace and obstacles are faced in various angles. For the same reason, system needs to be introduced where the cyber cell police station are controlled by the union government. Police say that such change in system will help them in detecting the fraudsters faster.
