Karnataka trains most punctual in India

New Delhi, June 3, DHNS: Karnataka can be proud of one more thing—here trains to run on time. A confidential report of the Railway Ministry reveals that northern states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh reflect their bad state of civic order also in running of trains .

If in Karnataka over 90 per cent of trains run on time, less than 50 per cent of trains are punctual in Bihar and UP.

The monitoring report presented before the General Managers’ conference, which concluded on Wednesday, reveals that the punctuality situation in southern and western states is good when compared with north Indian states.

Worried over its inability to run trains on time, particularly in North India, the Ministry has told its senior officers to maintain the punctuality of trains. Ministry sources say that it remained one of the major concerns for ministers in the General Managers’ conference.
Minister of State for Railways K J Muniyappa was candid enough to remind officers of their basic responsibility of running trains on time.

The monitoring report reveals the poor state of affairs in north India.
