Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi
Udupi, Jun 3: People in the surrounding areas of Brahmavar and Kundapur are still finding it hard to believe that popular BJP leader and member of legislative council of Karnataka was targeted for murder.
Police have stepped-up the investigations related to the case and have already arrested two of the accused Ragavendra Mogaveera and Basheer. Both have been remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.
Kota police inspector Mahesh Prasad and his team are carrying out the investigations.
Backround
In early May, unknown people were seen loitering suspiciously around Manoor and Kotathottu surroudings and collecting information about MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary. However, the people who were contacted by the accused turned out be those known to the MLC, and they were instrumental in getting hold of the accused by sharing this information with the police.
The accused had been absconding from the scene since then, but returned again a couple of days back to plot the MLC's murder.
Under the supervision of DySP Jayanth Shetty and Brahmavar circle inspector Krishnamurthy, a secret investigation was launched. On June 1, on receiving a tip-off that the accused were sighted in Brahmavar, the police arrested the duo.
BJP angry
On hearing the news of the plot to kill the MLC, BJP leaders in the region expressed their anger and appealed to the top police officials to nab the culprits and make public the motive behind the plot. At the same time, leaders have congratulated the police for arresting the accused before they could go ahead with their diabolical plan.
