Japanese Business Keen to Invest in Bengal: Ambassador


Kolkata, Jun 4 (IANS): The Japanese business community is keenly looking forward to invest in West Bengal, Japanese Ambassador Akitaka Saiki said Friday.

"Japanese business community is keenly looking forward to invest in West Bengal. The new government of West Bengal, led by Mamata Banerjee, is very serious about attracting investment in the state. The Japanese business community will see this as a positive signal," Saiki said at a programme organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here.

Number of Japanese business should increase in West Bengal, he said.

"We are waiting for the West Bengal government to prioritised the area where investment should come," Saiki said.

On his meeting with the chief minister Thursday, he said he had congratulated her on her "historic victory" and told her that the state would "be vibrant under her leadership".
