Rio Grande (Puerto Rico), Jun 5 (IANS/EFE): Pop star Ricky Martin has said he would expand institutions like his Child Development and Prevention Centre in Puerto Rico to the rest of Latin America.
The Ricky Martin Foundation Child Development and Prevention Centre, with a budget of $4 million, will begin construction this year and is expected to be completed by 2012. The centre will have 10 classrooms, a library and a recreation area.
Martin conducted a golf tournament to collect fund for the children's centre that will combat exploitation and trafficking of kids in Puerto Rico.
"This is just the start of a project that is going to spread across the rest of the island and on to the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Latin America," Martin said.
Martin said the centre would promote arts, music, meditation, yoga, sports, martial arts, health, personalised education, culture and ethical values.
The pop star will begin his European tour June 23 in Lisbon. He would also perform in Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Britain, Holland and Finland.
