Undertrials Die in Munda Central Jail


Ranchi, June 6 (PTI) Three undertrial prisoners lodged in the Birsa Munda Central Jail died today after they complained of dizziness and vomiting, jail sources said.

The three -- Manoj Singh (38), Manoj Kumar Singh (40) and Bacha Lal Yadav (42) -- had complained of dizziness and vomiting yesterday and were treated by the jail doctor, they said.

But today at around 9 am their condition suddenly deteriorated after which they were referred to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). But they died within 30 minutes, they said.

"All the three prisoners were admitted at RIMS when their condition had become critical," Director of RIMS Tulsi Mahto said.

Meanwhile, RIMS has constituted a medical board for the postmortem.

According to jail sources, the three prisoners were lodged in Birsa Munda central jail some six months back. Manoj Kumar Singh was facing dowry case, while Manoj Singh was an accused under Arms Act.
