Kasargod, Feb 12: The Utsava idol, made of Panchaloha, that was stolen from Chigurupade Sri Mahalingeshwara temple, two years ago, was found in the bushes of the forest outside the compound wall around the premises.

On February 9, some children were playing football near the compound wall. As the ball fell into the bushes, one of the boys went to pick it up and saw the idol lying in the bush. The temple committee members who got the information have taken the idol back to the temple.

The idol was stolen on August 10, 2020 from the sanctum sanctorum. Along with the idol that weighed 12 kgs, two sets of silver third eye of Shivling, silver plate, plate used for Dhare and Rudrakshi Mala were also stolen. A case in this regard was registered with the police by the temple committee.

As the Utsava idol was stolen, now the pooja is being offered to the new idol. Annual fair is being held in the temple now and surprisingly, the idol was also found at the auspicious time.
