Ramdev's Condition Stable, say Doctors
Dehradun, Jun 10 (IANS): Fasting yoga guru Baba Ramdev who was hospitalised Friday morning after his condition deteriorated, is stable and recovering, doctors attending on him said. Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar met Ramdev and urged him to call off his fast that entered the seventh day.
Baba Ramdev was taken to a Dehradun hospital from his ashram on the outskirts of Haridwar Friday morning.
In a health status report, doctors said that Ramdev's blood pressure, respiration and heart beat were normal. His kidney function was normal, but there was some effect on his liver, said the doctors.
A team of five doctors is taking care of the yoga guru, who has been kept in an isolation ward. Baba Ramdev is on an indefinite fast against corruption and for the retrieval of unaccounted money stashed abroad.
Meanwhile, Sri Sri Ravishankar met Ramdev at the hospital. He told reporters that the yoga guru was in a conscious state and urged him to tell his supporters who are also fasting to take lime water with honey.
"We requested him to end his fast. He said that many people are on fast and told them to take lemon water with honey. He had tears in his eyes and said even children are fasting," Ravishankar said.
Ramdev Thursday took lemonade and honey on the request of doctors. The yoga guru went on an indefinite fast after being forced to move out of Delhi's Ramlila Ground a week ago.
Ramdev's Health 'Worrisome' as his Fast Enters Seventh Day
Haridwar, Jun 10 (PTI): Doctors have suggested immediate hospitalisation of yoga guru Ramdev whose indefinite fast against corruption and black money entered seventh day today as his health parameters continued to remain 'worrisome'.
"His blood pressure is 104/70 which is low and pulse rate is 58 per minute which is also low. If his pulse rate and BP continue to go down, it may put some pressure on his heart. We found that his health is going down. It is worrisome," Chief Medical Officer Yogesh Chandra Sharma said after conducting medical examination of Ramdev whose fast entered seventh day today.
The CMO said there are 183 people in Patanjali ashram who are sitting on fast with the 46-year-old yoga guru.
"We have recommended him immediate hospitalisation. He should be admitted on priority basis. I have sent my report to the District Magistrate and response is awaited," Sharma said.
The CMO said he found that Ramdev was suffering from dehydration and that he has been advised to break his fast which has been rejected by the yoga exponent.
"There is not much improvement in his health after he started taking lemonade. We have advised him to take glucose which he has denied... He needs to be medically examined and taken to hospital. (His associate) Balakrishna's health is satisfactory," Sharma said.
