Terror’s Cyber Link: SIMI, Indian Mujahideen's Facebook Movement


Bhopal, Jun 10 (Bhaskar News): The members of the banned Student Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and Indian Mujahideen (IM), who were nabbed from Jabalpur and Bhopal, earlier this week used the cyber world to recruit and train young men for the holy war or ‘jihad’, reports have revealed.

The Madhya Pradesh ATS on Sunday arrested eight alleged terrorists belonging to the Indian Mujahideen and the SIMI from Jabalpur and Bhopal.

Out of the eight arrested alleged terrorists, four were nabbed from Jabalpur and the rest from Bhopal.

According sources in the ATS, the arrested militants used to circulate jihadi literature and video CDs among children in the age group of 15 to 18 years.

The police have also recovered huge quantity of CDs , pen drives and jihadi literature from the arrested men. Apart from that, they also used ‘jihadi’ blogs to influence the young minds.

Sources said that during investigations, the arrested terrorists have revealed that they had recruited several young men from Indore, Ujjain and Bhopal into their army to fulfill their nefarious aims. They targeted young men coming to mosques in various cities of the state.

ATS officials are now trying to scan the local support of these arrested terror leaders.

According to investigating officials, Dr. Abu Faizal and Wasim, who were among the eight nabbed terrorists, had their Facebook accounts through which they influenced people and provoked them to join the holy war.
