Centre, Congress Launching Vicious Campaign Against Us: RSS

NEW DELHI, Jun 10 (PTI): RSS on Friday accused the Centre and Congress of launching a "vicious campaign" against it with regard to yoga guru Ramdev's fast and termed it as a "cheap tactic" by the government to divert people's attention from the on-going anti-corruption movements.

"A few ministers of the incumbent Central government and office bearers of the Congress party have for the last two days led a vicious campaign against the RSS. Repeated allegations are being made against the RSS attributing motives on us to create disturbance and disorder in the country," RSS Joint general secretary Bhaiyyaji Joshi said.

"We feel this is yet another cheap tactic by the government to divert people's attention and mislead them about the ongoing anti-corruption movement in the nation," he added.

Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh as well as union ministers, including P Chidambaram, have alleged that RSS was behind Ramdev's fast against corruption.

The RSS, however, supported the movements of Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev in its statement, saying the two have come forward to "express and channelise" the "collective public anger" against corruption.

"Instances of corruption among the high and mighty and government's inaction to prosecute them or even shield the corrupt have resulted in dissatisfaction among the masses that is now visible in huge anti-corruption protests across the country," Joshi said.
