Beltangady: Huge collection of antic items – Passion of Hyder Ali

Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (MS)

Beltangady, Feb 16: A native of the village here has a rare hobby. He collects items that are outdated for the current generation with the intention of preserving the things that were used in daily life by older generation of people.

One can find old gramophone, photocopy machine, battery torch, chimney lamp, radio, tape recorder and currency notes of India and other countries in the house of Hallimane Hyder Ali. He is originally from Koyyur in the taluk here. He works in a nursery and keeps 20% of his income to collect old items.

Hyder had interest in collecting old and rare items right from his childhood. He started collecting things due to the inspiration of a teacher called Laxmi. Now his collection of rare items has reached its 52nd year.

Hyder earns Rs 5,000 per month. He is collecting the rare items with cooperation from his daughter Pattimuthu Raziya Aliya. Hyder’s daughter also spares the scholarship money for collection of old items.

At a time, where people want to buy new version of any durable, the hobby of Hyder creates curiosity.
