Moodbidri: Girl ends life after mother forbids her from using mobile phone

Moodbidri, Feb 21: A class 10 girl student jumped into the well and ended her life as she was distraught by the fact that she was not given a mobile phone when she asked for the same with her mother. This incident occurred on Sunday at Nagadadda of Valpady village in the taluk.

The deceased is identified as Yuthi (15), daughter of Umesh Poojary, is the deceased. She was a student of Aliyoor high school.

Yuthi’s father had gone out on Sunday for daily wage work. After a while, mother and her younger daughter got ready to go to Shirtady. When mother asked elder daughter Yuthi also to come along with them, Yuthi said that she has got writing work so cannot come and asked for the mobile phone that the mother was carrying.

Yuthi’s mother said that she will give the mobile phone once she comes back from Shirtady. Then both her mother and younger sisters left home for Shirtady. When they returned in the afternoon, Yuthi was not at home. After searching they found the mortal remains of Yuthi in the well of the house at 4 pm.

Yuthi was a brilliant student and good in extra-curricular activities also. Moodbidri police are investigating further.

    Mobile phones have empowered all youths. It is so sad that kids cannot accept 'NO' nowadays. In and around mangalore itself so many tragedies due to 'mobile' Almighty should save our youths'

    Very sad if she done this because of mobile issue. There are advantages and disadvantages of mobile use. If children's use in proper way. Many ask children not to use much mobile but in same time many schools projects done through mobile via google search. Nowadays many Teachers giving projects or homework to children. And no other options kids must use mobles to find out the answers.
