Bangkok, Feb 22: Dr Ronald Colaco, a renowned NRI businessman and philanthropist, was recognized with the 'AsiaOne Global Indian of the Year 2022-23' award during a prestigious ceremony on February 21.
The award, presented by AsiaOne Magazine in collaboration with ETNOW, ZEE TV, and CNBC, took place at the Hotel Marriott Marquis in Bangkok, drawing attendance from over 20 international ambassadors based in Thailand.




This honour places Dr Colaco among esteemed individuals of Indian descent who have made significant global contributions, joining the ranks of luminaries such as Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, PepsiCo's Indra Nooyi, and Reliance Foundation's Nita Ambani.

Dr Colaco has long supported public services, particularly in law enforcement, funding the construction of two police stations and offering financial aid to numerous others. His contributions extend to legal infrastructure with the establishment of the ‘Vakil Bhavan’ (Lawyers' Chamber) in Bengaluru. Additionally, his generosity has improved facilities for the Revenue Department, Panchayat Raj, PWD, Zilla Panchayat, and other public offices across Karnataka.

A staunch advocate for education, Dr Colaco has sponsored the renovation and construction of several government schools. His philanthropic efforts have benefited over 30 institutions, providing essential resources to enhance educational opportunities for underprivileged children.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Colaco provided ration kits to over 18,000 families in need and contributed to the state’s COVID relief efforts. His humanitarian work spans various sectors, from organizing mass weddings for economically disadvantaged couples to supporting women’s safety programs. He has also played a vital role in establishing the first Kannada Bhavan outside India, located in Bahrain.
