Chennai, Jul 12: Actress Trisha Krishnan paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary playback singer S. Janaki, remembering her not only as one of India's greatest musical icons but also as a humble and compassionate human being.
Sharing an emotional message on Instagram, Trisha said it was one of the greatest honours of her life to carry Janaki's name in one of her most cherished films. She added that knowing the veteran singer personally and receiving her affection was a memory she would treasure forever.

The actress thanked Janaki for her warmth, kindness, laughter and affectionate nature, saying the legendary singer had always reminded her that true greatness comes with humility. She added that Janaki's voice would continue to live on and said she would deeply miss her.
S. Janaki, widely known as the "Nightingale of South India," passed away at a private hospital in Mysuru on Saturday after suffering a cardiac arrest. She was 88.
Apollo BGS Hospitals, where she had been admitted earlier in the day, said the veteran singer was brought to the hospital in critical condition and was immediately shifted to the Intensive Care Unit.
According to the hospital, despite continuous treatment and intensive monitoring by a multidisciplinary medical team, Janaki suffered a cardiac arrest during treatment. Doctors initiated advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but she experienced multiple cardiac arrests and could not be revived. She was declared dead at 7.30 p.m. on Saturday.
A four-time National Film Award winner, S. Janaki recorded more than 48,000 songs in several Indian languages during a career spanning six decades, earning recognition as one of India's most celebrated playback singers.
Her mortal remains have been kept at the Maharaja College Grounds in Mysuru to enable the public, admirers and members of the film fraternity to pay their final respects.
