Bantwal, Feb 25: A farmer of Vittal in the taluk has grown more than 30 different varieties of jackfruit on one acre of land.
Mahesh Miyandoor has credit for this unique achievement. In addition to jackfruit, Mahesh also has rubber, coconut, plantain, pepper plantations on his 25 acres of farm land.
On just one acre of land, Mahesh has grown 60 jackfruit trees. Some of the varieties are called Swarna, gumless and Chandra.
Mahesh does not sell the jackfruit that he grows on his farm land. Instead, he distributes them to his neighbours and friends.
