Kundapur, Mar 1: The country has celebrated its 75th anniversary of independence, but basic facilities are only an illusion for the people of this village. The residents’ pleas to everybody that they come across have become futile. This is the condition of people of Madamakki village, about 55 kilometres away from Kundapur, on Kundapur Someshwar road.

Kuntamakki, Karimane, Hamja, and Edamale areas are the side hills of forests affected by naxal menace. Though several lac worth naxal package is announced for it, officials and elected representatives have done nothing to solve the issues here.

More than 300 people live here. More than 100 children go to school. They have to go to Belve primary health centre situated 16 kilometres away if they fall sick. As many as 15 houses here do not have the title deeds. The road transport over here is pathetic. There is also the menace of wild animals.

The elderly people and the pregnant women are covered, rolled in blankets and manually carried in case of health issues. The gram and taluk panchayat officials are reportedly doing nothing to solve problems here. The promises made during the previous elections have remained only on paper. Therefore, the villagers have warned that they will boycott elections this time. They say that they do not want assurances but only implementations.

Only time will tell if the concerned people wake up at least after ‘election boycott’ threat from the villagers of Madamakki.

Very good and sensible decision. Why caste vote when you know the present government and nominated MLA of the area cannot do anything worthwhile. Udupi is no better. I am residing in Balaji Layout, Kannarpady, Udupi since past 20 years. Still the area from St.Mary English Medium High School cross and houses further down South still have not seen the face if concrete road nor black top road. MLA Raghupathy Bhat concentrates on all the other cross of this layout on caste basis I think. Surprising he is turning a blind eye to the area where I stay. Since we come under Panchayat limits, the elected Congress representatives the less said the better. Immatured boys who only know to say we don't have funds. PM Narendra Modiji and CM Basvaraj Bommai avare please take note and see elected people representatives do something worthwhile. This year no member from my house is going to vote knowing very well how worthless the promises if BJP and Congress will be.

Very good move. Same is the case with the performance of BJP elected representative of Udupi Mr.Raghupathy Bhat. Roads in Udupi in a horrible state. Development work priority given to people residing in residential areas on caste basis. I am residing in Balaji Layout, Kannarpady, Udupi since 20 years. Still the road starting from St.Mary English Medium School cross and further down South does not have a concrete or black top road. We come under Panchayat limits which is run by Congress another useless party. The Panchayat is run by young people who are not capable of governance and only thing they keep repeating is they do not have budget. Me and my family have decided not to vote this time. Total trust lost on Mr.Narendra Modi and CM Basvaraj Bommai ji BJP government due to some non performing elected representatives. No point discussing further on Udupi BJP MLA or this BJP government. Even if Congresss wins condition is same.
