Mangaluru: Press Club Day to be held on Mar 5 with awards ceremony

Mangaluru, Mar 2: The Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Union (DKDWJU), Mangalore Press Club, and Patrika Bhavan Trust will hold the Press Club Day on March 5. The event will be held at Bolooru Kudla Kudru-Paradise Island at 10 am.

During the event, senior journalists will receive the Annual Mangaluru Press Club Award-2022, and honorary Press Club awards will be presented to other deserving individuals. The programme will be inaugurated by Karnataka Media Academy's K Sadashiva Shenoy, and Mangalore Press Club's president Annu Mangaluru will preside over the event.

Film actor and Big Boss winner Roopesh Shetty will confer the Press Club Award on Rajani Shetty, who has been actively rescuing and feeding stray dogs and other animals. Additionally, Senior Journalists Jinappa Gowda, I B Sandeep Kumar, Vinobha K T, Prakash Ilanthiala, Pushparaj BN, Stanly Pinto, Ramakrishna Bhat, and B Ravindra Shetty will be conferred with the Press Club honorary award for 2022.

Furthermore, the children of journalists will be presented with talent awards by Information and Public Relations senior assistant director Raviraj H G. Well-known cardiologist Dr Padamanabha Kamath will also provide an ECG machine to the Journalists Union.

Senior Journalist K Anand Shetty will serve as the chief guest for the programme, and the press club's general secretary, Arif Padubidri, will make the announcement.

Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Union (DKDWJU) president Shrinivas Nayak Indaje, Press Club Trust president Ramakrishna R, Indian Working Journalist Union Member P B Harish Rai, Karnataka Media Academy Member Jaganath Shetty Bala, and Karnataka Working Journalist Executive Committee member Ibrahim Adkkasthala will be present on the occasion.
