Mangaluru, Mar 4: Police have arrested accused Keshava in an abetment to suicide case of a 33-year-old woman and her four-year-old daughter.
Death of the woman and her daughter was reported on March 1 at 6th cross, Kodialbail under the Barke police station limits.

The police had booked three persons including Keshava under IPC Section 306 ('abetment to suicide') following the suicide of the woman and her daughter.

The police produced him before a court which remanded him to judicial custody. Police are investigating the role of the other two accused - Babu and Mamatha - in the case.

Police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar Jain confirmed the arrest.

Reports said the woman, identified as Vijaya, along with her daughter Shobika and a 12-year-old had attempted to end their lives by hanging themselves after writing a death note.

The 12-year-old managed to survive and informed the complainant over the phone about the tragedy. Upon arrival at the scene, the complainant found Vijaya and her other daughter hanging from a ceiling fan in the hall of her home.

Prior to committing suicide, Vijaya had written a death note with the help of her daughter, accusing Keshava, a resident of Jeppinamogaru, and two others named Babu and Mamatha of instigating her to take this drastic step.

A person of sound mind, normally, would not name any person, as the reason for her death, unless otherwise she has a very valid reason; however, since the exact reason behind her suicide is not mentioned, one can only assume and presume! However, it should be noted that "depression" by itself doesn't imply that the person is of unsound mind and would name someone on the death note just like that!

A depressed person has lots and lots of issues with other people. A depressed person almost never blames a blood relative. A depressed person almost always blames the husband. The Indian legal system does not seem to be aware of depression in suicides. The non-depressed people hardly ever commit suicide.

From your post, it appears that you are painting all people with depression with the same brush? FYI, majority of those suffering from depression have a very normal mental faculty!! There are innumerable cases of famous personalities who have ended their lives despite having every possible thing in place in their lives; please do your own research and find!!
