Madani to move court against govt decision on Muslim quota

Saharanpu, Mar 26 (IANS): The Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, has said that it will challenge in court the Karnataka government's decision to remove Muslims from the 2B category of 'Other Backward Classes' (OBCs), which gave them 4 per cent reservation.

Maulana Mahmood Madani, president of the organisation, termed the move a "grave injustice meted out to Muslims".

Madani told reporters in Deoband that: "The decision does not go hand-in-hand with Prime Minister Modi's Pasmanda Muslim upliftment. The Prime Minister, on one hand, is promoting development policy for the marginalised section of Muslims, and on the other hand, his party's government in Karnataka is snatching away the reservation from them and distributing it among other classes."

The 4 per cent OBC Muslim quota has been divided between the Vokkaligas and Lingayats. Muslims eligible for quota have been categorised under economically weaker sections (EWS) now.

He argued that various official statistics and reports confirm the fact that the Muslims of India are economically and educationally at the lowest rung of development.

"Hence, no community deserves reservation more than the Muslims," Madani said.

Calling the move as "the worst example of electoral opportunism and appeasement", Madani said, "This move only aims to create discord between the two communities. We will approach the court against it."

He and his likes are the very same people who don’t utter a word of condemnation when there are terrorist attacks, arson, destruction of property and loss of innocent lives; but are quick in standing up for their rights and freebees.

Dear John, Pls read newspaper.... then bla bla.... we are asking for our rights as per Indian Constitutional. You speak Mr. Madani, he is lead in India ANTI-TERRORISM CONFERENCE. Anti-terrorism conferences are in defence of Islam Indian Muslim ulema (scholars, clerics) from across India have been holding conferences and well-attended rallies to condemn terrorism since February 2008. The first conference at Deoband itself had attracted tens of thousands. Since then the popularity of these rallies and conferences among Muslims has grown. Rattled by the turn of events, radical Islamists and terrorists have called them "puppets of Hinduism”, “a bunch of cowards” and "Dogs". But the ulema led by Member of Parliament Mehmood Madani, head of the India’s largest groups of ulema, the Jamiat Ullema-e-Islam, remain unfazed. Maulana Madani, the central figure driving the anti-terrorism campaign says: "We are fighting to defend Islam, not to play politics. Today, even the ulema of the Binori Town Masjid in Karachi, who are accused of giving birth to the Taliban, are willing to join us". NewAgeIslam.com pieces together Maulana Mehmood Madani’s views on the subject based on interviews to various media outlets. “Islam is categorical in its rejection of terrorism." This is a desperate last minute act of the govt fearing loss in the upcoming elections... Muslims have lot of poor families... If anyone travels to Sakleshpur, Mysore , kunigal belt they will understand.... Even women work as daily wage workers... This is an insensitive decision of a fascist regime... Unfortunate act after releasing rapists and murderers in the open...

Does Muslims come only from Mangalore in Karnataka? Even SC/ST guys are also well settled these days and some even settled in Western country. Go and read Sacchar committee report and you will know the reality. Irrespective of that report is few years old, but the situation after this current government is more worse.

Mr. Disilva you must know what government has announced. Please note Christians, Muslims and minorities are scolded here. These categories are not eligible for any government jobs. If you don't understand don't write. We all give our kids good education if you are not benefited then what. Let government announce same time tax relaxation to minorities then it make some sense. Looks you are in 40% and your stomach is full.
