Beltangady: Rider dies, pillion seriously injured in motorcycle-truck collision

Beltangady, Mar 30: A youth, riding a motorcycle, died as his vehicle was hit by a truck near the church on Dharmasthala-Mundruppadi road on Wednesday March 29 evening. The pillion rider was seriously injured in the accident.

The deceased is identified as Prasad Shetty (27), a resident of Padyar Majalu of Kuvettu village. Vishwanath Rao (42), a resident of Laila village, who was pillion is seriously injured and is admitted to the hospital.

Prasad was a chain surveyor and was returning back from his duty. As the truck hit his motorcycle, both rider and pillion were thrown on the road. They were rushed to the hospital by locals. Prasad died as he was being taken to Mangaluru for higher treatment.

Traffic police of Beltangady visited the spot and registered a case. Prasad is survived by two brothers, including Pradeep Shetty, vice president of Kuvettu gram panchayat, one sister and parents.
