Udupi, March 31: “Persmission is mandatory for organising religious and large gatherings when the model code of conduct is in force,” said Seetha M C, election officer for Udupi assembly constituency.
Speaking to news persons, she said, “The public can obtain permission from the Election Officer 120 Udupi, Vidhana Sabha Constituency / Assistant Election Officer to hold any meetings, events, political meetings, campaign meetings etc. A control room has been opened in the taluk administration building to receive complaints related to elections. This control room will function round the clock. In case of violation of the election code of conduct, if found, complaints can be made to this control room."
She said, "The Election Commission has developed C-VIGIL App for the public to submit complaints related to elections and cases pertaining to violation of code of conduct. Voters above 80 years, disabled and Covid-19 positive voters will be given opportunity to vote through postal ballots. In Udupi constituency there are 2,14,650 registered voters and the constituency has 224 polling booths."
“Permissions for programmes can be accessed via the single window system set up at the Udupi Tahsildar office. No sound systems can be used between 10 pm to 6 am in any kind of programme. Permissions will be granted for programmes on a daily basis. But none of the programmes should be used for election campaigning and if any such violation is found cases will be registered,” said Seetha M C.
