Mangaluru, Apr 5: Traffic police have directed buses to stop away from important junction so that traffic movement is not affected.

Banners with the necessary information have been put up by Kadri police in the bus stands located at important junctions in the city to avoid traffic congestion.

In addition, the police department is also planning to shift a few bus stops from junctions.

City police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar Jain said in a tweet, “Buses are stopping at the important junctions which causes congestion. Have put informatory banners for not allowing them to stop at junction. Request fellow Mangalureans to please abide. This will really help in reducing congestion. Also few bus stops would be shifted from junctions.”

Good move. Let the passengers enjoy walking instead of dying (at busy junctions).

This is a Joke. Mangalore is the only city in the world where bus drivers decide where should be the bus stand. Wherever the passengers raise their hands to stop that's the bus stand.

Mangalore city bus drivers are not to blame all the time. If I have my own vehicle than its natural to blame the City bus drivers, the bus stops in wrong places and the commuters requesting to stop where they wish. Ask the people who has no private vehicle and hence use city bus. A old bus commuter cannot stop a kilometer away and walk to his destination. Its the goodwill and understanding between the city bus drivers and commuters which continues since city bus started in Mangalore. Don't blame that. Issue is the speed, rash driving and driving and blocking all the lanes. Try to educate and penalize them if not adhering to the rules. A bus driver drives all day and just think of the pressure he often comes across. Just driving my personal vehicle for couple of hours turns me nuts. Just stand in their shoe and think. Once again the authority should try to organize regular training and refreshers to remind them the tantrums they create due to rash and negligence driving.
