Hyderabad, Jun 29: Two Sudanese nationals, two Qazis and two female pimps were rounded up by police on Tuesday June 28 for forcing a minor girl into marriage.

On Monday June 27, the police had arrested another Qazi in connection with the case.

Police said that Mohammed Elshafie Mohammed Elhassan alias Ansari of AC Guards, a Sudanese, married the girl, a Muslim, and had plans to abandon her after exploiting her. He had been in the city on a student visa, they said.

The 16-year-old girl from Bela colony in Moghulpura approached the police for help a few days after she was married. On June 23 she filed a complaint against the culprits, it is learnt.

The girl alleged that the marriage was solemnised without her permission. Her father passed away some eight years ago, the police said.

The police also arrested female pimps Zahera Begum and Ghousia Begum. The Qazis arrested are Syed Shakeeluddin alias Shakeel Ahmed and Syed Abdul Malik.

The girl's thumb impressions were taken so as to facilitate divorce later once the Sudanese man left the country after exploiting her, police said.

The Sudanese national who married her is a 25-year-old student of BSc. His friend Khaled tried to molest her, she alleged.

Investigations are on into other such marriages taking place in the city.
