Mangaluru: More animals, birds welcomed at Pilikula Biological Park

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, Apr 13: Pilikula Biological Park received an Asiatic lion, two wolves, a golden jackal, a comb duck, a silver pheasant, and a golden pheasant from Rajkot Zoological Park under the animal exchange
programme.

In return, the Pilikula Biological Park has sent four wild dogs, a leopard, two civet cats, four reticulated pythons, four mountain snakes, vine snakes and sand boa to Rajkot Zoological Park.

The newly arrived animals have been quarantined to adjust to the environment. The park will make arrangements for public display very soon.

It is said that the jackal is an endangered species. It is rarely spotted in India.

The endangered wild dogs and the hyena are breeding, informed park authorities.

Here are some suggestions: Expand the Animal Collection: Consider adding more animals to the zoo's collection, especially those that are unique to the region. This will attract more visitors and create a more diverse experience for those who come to the zoo. Improve Animal Welfare: Ensure that the animals are well-cared for and their welfare is a top priority. This can be done by providing adequate space, nutrition, and enrichment opportunities for the animals. Enhance Visitor Experience: Improve the overall visitor experience by providing more amenities, such as comfortable seating areas, clean restrooms, and food and beverage options. Consider adding interactive exhibits, animal shows, and guided tours to enhance the visitor experience. Improve Accessibility: Ensure that the zoo is easily accessible for all visitors, including those with disabilities. This can be done by providing wheelchair ramps, designated parking spaces, and accessible restrooms. Promote Conservation: Use the zoo as a platform to promote conservation and educate visitors on the importance of protecting wildlife and their habitats. This can be done through signage, educational exhibits, and guided tours. Collaborate with Local Businesses and Organizations: Partner with local businesses and organizations to offer discounts or special promotions for visiting the zoo. This can help attract more visitors and increase revenue. Emphasize Sustainability: Ensure that the zoo is run sustainably by implementing environmentally-friendly practices, such as waste reduction, energy conservation, and water conservation. By implementing these suggestions, Pilikula Zoo can become an even more popular and engaging tourist destination near Mangalore.

Three years before i visited there. I felt very sad. They collect so much money. No proper/clean drinking water provided to the animals. I felt very sad when looking at an poor Ostrich. Most of the feathers had shed off. It was lonely. Where it is kept place is soo dry. Thats why i dont visit zoos....to see the jailed animals in this way ! Dont treat them inhumanly. If you want to keep animals provide for them sufficient place to roam/fly. Disgusting. Inside to go here and there, vehicles charge money even after collecting fees at the entrance. Ok collect money. Dont fill your pockets. Look after the animals well. We are paying for them.

if the Zoo authorities cannot maintain the Zoo to a certain standard prescribed for wild life animals and bids then please do not cause trouble to these creatures. We very well can relate the standards of maintenance to the city. the garbage mess is enough to relate to the standards of hygiene.

Recently happen to visit the pilikula park, really pathetic condition. My last visit was during early 2000's and now the park looks like a jungle without proper maintenance, Conditions of animals and other species are so bad and untidy. there is huge difference while we compare the Mysore Zoo and Pilikula Bio park. Hope the concerned will take necessary actions.

Nawaz Kukkikatte,As you say Park is not maintained good ,but tickets are same or higher?Looks like no vet.doctor to control or any personal ?Pathetic stage.Animals will not be healthy and survive long .They should know .Or they should close it soon .It is like having children. When there are ,should take care .not allowing themselves to grow when and where they want and neglecting care.

There is a huge difference .You can keep them in a golden caged and give them food. But their own jungle world is always 100 times better because they have their own freedom and in their own world. Here they will feel fish out of water.
