Sullia, Apr 15: A baby elephant, which arrived from the forest into a residential area along with its mother and got separated, is running around in Ajjavara village. The forest department personnel are monitoring its movement. Now the human beings are company to the three month old baby elephant.
Two days ago, a herd of elephants, which arrived in Ajjavara village in search of food, fell into the pond of a farm. Out of the four elephants that fell into the pond, two were grown up elephants while the other two were babies. Among the two baby elephants, one was a-year-old while the other was just three-month-old.
Out of the four elephants, three elephants were rescued by the villagers after a herculean effort. However, the three month old baby elephant remained in the pond. Later, when the baby elephant was brought out of the pond through a rope and left in the hill along with the other three elephants, the mother elephant did not take the baby. From then, the baby elephant is roaming alone.
RFO of Sullia Manjunath said, “The baby elephant is just three months old and needs mother’s milk. As it is deprived of mother’s milk, it needs to be given nutritious treatment. Once this is done, it will be shifted to another place.”
