Sullia: Rescued orphan baby elephant taken to Dubare camp

Daijiworld Media Network – Sullia (MS)

Sullia, Apr 16: The three-month-old baby elephant rescued by the forest department has been taken to the Dubare elephant camp.

The calf had separated from its mother and was wandering in the streets of Ajjavara village. The forest department had been monitoring the baby elephant for the past two days, while concerned villagers also kept a watchful eye.

Four elephants had entered Ajjavara village in search of food when they accidentally fell into a large pond that had been dug in a nearby farm.

While two adult elephants and a year-old baby were rescued first and made their way to a nearby hill, the three-month-old baby elephant was rescued after a delay. However, it was not accepted by its mother, which had already made its way back to the forest. As a result, the baby elephant was orphaned.
