Siddaramaiah announces retirement from electoral politics after current elections

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Apr 19: Former chief minister and senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah filed his nomination papers from the Varuna constituency and addressed a rally in his home turf. At the rally, the 75-year-old politician announced that this assembly election will be his final election as a candidate.

"After this assembly election, I will quit electoral politics. The people of Varuna have always been with me, and because of their support, I have reached places in my political career. This will be my last time filing papers from the Varuna constituency," said Siddaramaiah. He won from the Chamundeswari constituency in 1983 for the first time and later played an important role in Janata Dal (Secular) and the Congress party. He also served as chief minister of Karnataka between 2013 and 2018.

In the 2018 assembly elections, Siddaramaiah contested from Badami and Chamundeswari constituencies but only won in Badami. In this assembly election, he is contesting from his traditional Varuna constituency, as he was denied a ticket in Kolar, where he had earlier announced his candidacy. Siddaramaiah is also eyeing the chief ministerial post once again, if the Congress manages to win the assembly elections.

The Election Commission of India announced that the assembly elections in the state will be held on May 10, and the results will be declared on May 13. The last date for filing nominations is April 20, and the last date to withdraw nominations is April 24.

Why retire sir? When Kharge at 83 can become party president , why cannot you be a MLA or MP or CM for that matter.

Siddaramiahs fate is similar to that of Navjyot Siddu. Both the Siddus were allotted constituencies that were insignificant. Victory or Loss does not matter here. If he wins he will be far away and unheard off. If he Losses, his career will be buried for ever and no chance of resurruction in the future. This is how gen Congress treats leaders who are a pain in the arxes.

U'VE done great things Mr.siddramayya a big SALUTE to u.but atpresnt focus on getting rid of corrupt openly communal RSS/BJPs 40% govt. Its clear as sun out of 40% a big part was going2 GautanDas & his adani co's as well as to fund UP/WB/assam campaigns. Its OUR hard earned money this impotent state RSS/BJP leaders looted & gave to gujrati chaiwallah who cudnt even pass 4th std!!! & THIS MUST STOP.. only way THROW OUT shamelessly corrupt RSS/BJP govt. ITS hard2 digest karnataka/maharastra fund almost 50% GautamDas's criminal empire!! our blood boils to know that OUR money used to spread RSS/BJPs hate politics, false narrative & godi media. GautamDas's gujrat model is becoming clear,1st put somehow RSS/BJP govt mostly by toppling or with the help of ED/CBI/IT.then once in govt LOOT as much as possible & take most of money to gautamDas shell co's..& his MLA purchase schemes in other states.in next election change most of LOOTERS give ticket to fresh looters !!!!THIS IS GUJRAT MODEL

Ha Ha Ha. For the past 3 years , he was scouting for a safe muslim constituency. Eventually out of sheer disgust he was allotted one. Siddu then requested for a 2nd constituency to contest from. But now it looks the High command did not listen. So not being sure of results, he has to make a graceful exist.
