Mangaluru, April 27: The student intake for Homeopathic medicine course has decreased during the last two years as NEET examinations are being held in December and there is fear of them losing a year, said Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, director of Father Muller Charitable Institutes.
Speaking in a news conference at Deralakatte, he said students of Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu become doctors. “Unlike other courses, the counselling for Homeopathy medicine course starts after a long wait for the students after finishing the NEET examinations,” he said.
Fr Roshan Crasta, the administrative officer of Homeopathic College and Hospital said that the students are more in number only at Kalburgi and at the Father Muller’s Homeopathic College.
“There are instances of only two students joining the courses in some colleges. The concerned university should start counselling immediately after the NEET examination and ensure that the doctors get jobs in state government hospitals like in Kerala so that local students also show interest in pursuing the Homeopathic medicine course,” he said.
“The demand for nursing has increased after Corona. There is a huge demand for Indian nurses in Europe and London. The government should take decisions in the beginning immediately after the admissions commence. Some students will move the court and then be deprived of education due to last minute decisions,” Fr Crasta said.
