Mumbai, Jul 8: Director Zoya Akhtar admitted that the movie was not written with Katrina in mind for the lead role as she wanted to cast fresh faces for the role. However, inspite of auditioning several new faces for the character in script, the hunt seemed never ending.
Zoya who needed a half Caucasian-half Indian face for the part had bumped into Katrina at a party and immediately took a liking to the actress and knew she would suit the character.
Kalki Koechlin too will be playing lead side by side along with Katrina in the movie. Her performance in Dev D and That Girl in the Yellow Boots had impressed the director who was the casting director for several movies.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara that is re-scheduled to be released on July 15 stars Hrithik Roshan paired with Katrina , Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar and Kalki.
