Consultations on with Telangana Lawmakers: Azad


Jammu, July 8 (IANS) Union Health Minister and Congress party leader in charge of Andhra Pradesh Ghulam Nabi Azad said Friday that consultations were on with lawmakers from the state over the "complex" Telangana issue.

"We are holding consultations and discussions on the Telangana issue with our lawmakers and others," Azadtold newsmen here on the sidelines of a function.

Telangana lawmakers had resigned to press the demand for separate statehood. Azad has been talking to them and to the national party leadership, including Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue.

Azad was on a day's visit to Jammu.

He refused to divulge the nature of talks with Telangana lawmakers.

Asked about the fate of Dayanidhi Maran who resigned as textiles minister Thursday, Azad said the "law will takes its own course".
