Mangaluru, May 2: The Father Muller Hospital Thumbay (FMHT) celebrated its Decennial Celebration on May 2, 2023, with a thanksgiving Eucharist in the hospital premises. The program started with a prayer dance and welcome dance by the Father Muller Nursing College Thumbay students, followed by a tribute to the founder, Fr Augustus Muller, and former director, the late Rev. Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, by the dignitaries. The formal decennial celebration was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, released Muller @ Thumbay, the decennial souvenir, and the documentary of FMHT.
Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese and president of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, was the president of the celebration and addressed the gathering, saying, "God loves a cheerful giver and receiver. Giving oneself, one's own time, doctors, and nurses render selfless service in the hospital, and they will be remembered by people, and their names are written in the hearts of the people." The Bishop congratulated all and thanked everyone for their contribution. He also facilitated the present and former administrators, doctors, and staff who served the institution continuously for the last 10 years.
In his speech, Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, director FMCI, acknowledged the services rendered by the former director, the late Fr Patrick Rodrigues, and former administrators for improving the infrastructure, services and for their hard work towards the accreditation process of the hospital. Dr. Antony Sylvan D’Souza, dean, FMMC, was the guest of honor. He emphasized that it is essential to focus on the outcome rather than income, not money but benefits, looking into the service, and good feedback.
Fr Sylvester Vincent Lobo, administrator of FMHT, welcomed the dignitaries. The event was graced by Sr Dhanya Devasia, principal, Father Muller Nursing College Thumbay, administrators Fr Ajith Menezes, Fr Roshan Crasta, Fr George Jeevan Sequiera, Fr Nelson Deeraj Pais, Fr Rohan Dias, Fr Valerian D’Souza, parish priest, Modankap Church, Bantwal, Fr Rudolf Ravi D'Sa, chaplains, Dr Jayaprakash Alva, the former dean of FMMC, Praveen B Thumbe, the gram panchayat president, and Mohammed Volavoor, principals of various colleges, and other dignitaries.
Dr Deekshith Shetty and Dr Soumya Neetha Aranha were the anchors for the event, and Dr Saritha Lobo proposed a vote of thanks.
