More than 50,000 new voters register to cast vote in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, May 9: The last date for adding new voters to the electoral list was April 10. According to the final list, 43,701 and 11,994 new voters in Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi district have been added respectively.

According to the Election Commission of India (EC) as of January 5, 2023 in the district of Dakshina Kannada, a total of 17,37,688 voters were eligible to cast their votes. This included 8,50,552 males and 8,87,060 females.

Later, the EC gave a specific time period for new voters to register their names. So far 43,701 new voters have been added to the list. As of April 20, 2023, the total number of voters in Dakshina Kannada are 17,81,389 which includes 8,70,991 males and 9,10,314 females.

Before the announcement of elections the number of voters in Beltangady taluk was 2,22,144. Now it has gone up to 2,28,871. In Moodbidri, the number rose from 2,00,303 to 2,06,065. In Mangaluru North, the number went up to 2,49,421 from 2,42,186. In Mangaluru South, the number of voters was 2,39,905. Now it has gone up to 2,45,744. In Bantwal, the total number of voters increased to 2,28,377 from 2,22,901. In Puttur taluk, the number of voters increased from 2,08,275 to 2,12,753. In Sullia, the new number of voters is 2,06,209 from the earlier 2,01,976.

In the district of Udupi, the total number of voters is 10,41,672. Out of this 22,471 are youths. According to the statistics of March month, there were 10,29,678 voters. Now 11,994 voters have been added. In Byndoor. there are 2,35,668 voters. The previous number was 2,32,723. In Kundapura, the number of voters rose from 2,07,204 to 2,09,537. In Kaup, the revised figure reads 1,88,952. The earlier number was 1,86,681. In Udupi, the number of voters rose from 2,14,650 to 2,16,938. In Karkala, the total number of voters at present is 1,90,577. Earlier it was 1,88,410.

Among the total number of voters in the districts women outnumber men with 5,38,823 while the number of men is 5,02,836.
