Mangaluru: Polling for legislative assembly – Bus services to get affected

Mangaluru, May 10: Bus services will get affected drastically in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on polling day of May 10 as 300 KSRTC and 138 private buses are taken for polling related work.

The bus services of KSRTC will be curtailed by 34 buses in Mangaluru, 105 from Kundapur and Udupi and 130 from Puttur division.

More than 30 buses are deputed for police personnel. The KSRTC will be providing 20 more buses. As many as 138 city and service private buses in Mangaluru will be deputed for polling related work. Bus services will be badly affected on May 10 in twin districts.

The KSRTC buses plying to Dharmasthala, Kasargod are taken off route. Each bus was making 10 to 15 trips per day. KSRTC officials said that the plan is not to get more routes affected.

Almost all the seats of KSRTC and private buses are full due to polling on May 10. Seats can still be booked through online. Buses will be allowed to move depending on the availability of passengers. The private buses have hiked the ticket price by three times. The rates which were Rs 800 to Rs 900 have shot up to Rs 2500 to Rs 3000. As the weekend will be the second Saturday followed by Sunday, the prices of tickets have also increased.
