Mumbai, Jul 11: The newly-formed Kurla-Bhandup regional Committee of metro-based Bunts Sangha was inaugurated on Saturday July 9. The committee, which will have jurisdiction over Kurla, Chembur, Mankhurd, Govandi, Vidyavihar, Ghatkopar, Kanjurmarg and Vikhroli suburbs, was inaugurated at a function held at Bunts Bhavan, Kurla (East) here.
Bunts Sangha president, Aikala Harish Shetty, presided over the programme. Borivali MLA, Gopal C Shetty, participated as the chief guest. A popular figure, Jagdish C Shetty Maravoor, was the specially invited guest, while veteran hoteliers, Purandar M Shetty and Adarsh B Shetty, were the guests of honour.
Executive president of the regional committee, Vijay Sundar Shetty, honoured Aikala Harish Shetty, for being instrumental in the formation of the new committee.
Scholarships were distributed to talented students who secured over 75 percent marks in SSC and HSC examinations, during the programme.
The regional committee president, K Chandrahas Shetty, honorary treasurer, Ashok Shetty Kaup, women’s wing president, Bhoomika M Shetty, youth wing president, Prasanna Shetty, honorary general secretary, V K Shetty, honorary treasurer, Prabhakar L Shetty, and Dr Sunita M Shetty were present at the dais.
Joint secretary of the newly formed committee, Shashikant Shetty, joint treasurer, Vidyanand B Rai, executive presidents, Satish Shetty (Chembur), Ganesh Rai (Ghatkopar), Ganesh M Shetty (Vikhroli), Sundar M Shetty (Kanjurmarg), and Dr Ratnakar Shetty (Bhandup), women’s wing president, Asha Manohar Hegde, youth wing president, Goutham S Shetty, and members of the advisory committee, women’s wing, and youth wing were present at the function.
Vijay Sundar Shetty welcomed the gathering. Jaya A Shetty delivered introductory address. Honorary secretary, Bellampalli Balakrishna Hegde, explained about the functions of the committee. Journalist, Dayasagar Chowta, compered the programme.
