Sullia, May 12: The baby elephant which fell into Ajjavara lake and got separated from the herd and later sent to Dubare elephant camp, died a week ago.

On April 13, four elephants had fallen into the lake at Ajjavara, Tudiadka. Locals dug the edge of the lake and allowed the  elephants to climb up and walk back to the forest.

However, the baby elephant could not climb and fell repeatedly back into the pond. Finally, with the help of a rope, the locals rescued it.

However, the remaining herd had already left to the forest by then leaving the calf behind.
