Mangaluru, May 14: An ATM kiosk of a bank caught fire at Hampankatta in the city, resulting in the complete destruction of the ATM machine and the incineration of currency notes in the late hours of Friday.

The fire, believed to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, consumed the entire ATM machine, leaving the currency notes reduced to ashes. The extent of the loss is yet to be estimated. Prompt action was taken by the Padeshwar fire service personnel who arrived at the scene and successfully extinguished the fire.

Due to the dense smoke that spread from the fire, some damage occurred to the equipment inside the nearby bank office. Investigators suspect an electrical short circuit as the cause of this unfortunate incident.
