Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (MS)

Beltangady, May 15: A huge gang of BJP workers assaulted a Congress worker during the victory celebration of their candidate Harish Poonja in the legislative assembly elections, the counting of which was held on Saturday. The injured Congress worker is admitted to the hospital.

This incident was reported from Peradi of Beltangady taluk. Harish Poonja had defeated his nearest rival Rakshit Shivaram on Saturday. The victory celebration was held on Sunday.

The group of 150 BJP workers who were in the victory procession that was going through Peradi were more excited when they reached near Vijaya wine shop. They pulled Dayananda Poojary, who was standing nearby and forced him to celebrate with them. Though he refused to participate, he was dragged by the huge gang of BJP workers.

After dragging Dayananda Poojary inside the procession, the BJP workers beat him black and blue and he is admitted to hospital in Beltangady.

A case in this connection is filed in Venoor police station. Rakshit Shivaram, defeated Congress candidate and former MLA Vasant Bangera visited Dayananda Poojary at the hospital and more than 50 Congress workers gathered outside the hospital.

Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, is actually much better developed in karnataka, in the past 70yrs of congress than other regions. We have close proximity to Rail, Airport, Highways, even Sea port. Lot of educational institutions both primary to higher level, industries and so on. Now, if these people say Congress done nothing, in the past 70yrs, nobody can do anything for that blindness. Intelligent people of rest of the state, have booted out corrupt BJP. This congress worker is a fighter and withstood the gang of 150 goondas. Salutes

Rakshith shivaram was a right choice for Belthangady people , but they missed it . I was wondering , why people did not vote for good candidate. I believe Hindutwa, huge billawa vote swing and last moment announcement of Bajarang dal ban from congress , made a way for BJP candidate victory.
