Mangaluru: Speeding goods train runs over more than 20 buffaloes

Mangaluru, May 15: More than 20 buffaloes were found dead on Monday May 15 morning as they were run over by a goods train at Angaragundi in Baikampady.

It is learnt, the buffaloes died as they were run over by the goods train at Angaragundi at around midnight after Sunday.

The mishap took place as the goods train was moving from Kankanady to MCF.

Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued three buffaloes after three hours of operation. It is gathered that some buffaloes fell into a depth of 25 feet and died.

    People here are blaming the loco pilot as if he was driving a 2 wheeler to apply sudden brake. Good train take meters to stop after applying brakes and applying sudden brake would have derailed the entire train.

    Punish loco pilot. What else to do if he cannot do his job properly then disaster is bound to happen. Train would have got derailed seriously. Poor buffaloes lost their lives. Solution now is fencing the railway track.

    First punish the owner of buffalo .They should allow buffalo to roam near to train tracks.What if the tragedy happened with passenger train? Same way cows on the road.How many lives of people lost due to this cows sudden crossing or harming people.Why municipality not taking actions
