Mumbai, Jul 13: It is a perhaps a lesson on what happens when you try to cross the line between reel and real life. Director-producer of 'Force' Vipul Shah seems to have learnt this lesson too well.
A priest who was cast in the movie to perform a marriage between lead roles Genelia D'Souza and John Abraham first claimed that he had performed a 'real' wedding. Vipul did not take him seriously, but now matters have turned for the worse with the priest reportedly blackmailing Vipul and demanding 'compensation' to not raise an alarm.
Vipul claims it was director Nishikant Kamat's idea to have a real priest perform the wedding in the movie, instead of having an actor dress like one.
Vipul is also anxious about a possible protest from Hindu organisations, who may take offence to the use of a real pandit for a movie, and insist that the marriage should remain put. However, since both Genelia and John and not Hindus, Vipul may not have much to worry about.
He denied that he was raking up the issue for the sake of publicity. The news has benefitted the pandit more than the film, as he's now being treated as a celebrity, Vipul said, insisting that he even stopped some TV channels from making a special report out of the mess.
