Mangaluru, May 21: A case has been filed at CEN Police Station in the town after an individual was defrauded of Rs 70,000 under the false promise of a part-time job.

The victim received a message regarding a part-time job opportunity. Upon further inquiry, the sender requested the victim to provide their bank details. Subsequently, a link was sent through the Telegram app, instructing the victim to click and download an application.

The app claimed that upon completing tasks worth Rs 10,000, an amount of Rs 4,000 would be credited to the victim's bank account. Following the instructions, the victim completed the tasks and received Rs 4,000 in their account.

Later, the victim was asked to follow another Instagram account, where it was displayed that Rs 300 had been deposited. The fraudsters then showed transfers of Rs 10,000 and Rs 30,000. Finally, they claimed that Rs 56,000 had been credited to the victim's bank account. However, the victim was unable to transfer the amount to their personal bank account.

Upon inquiring about the method of transferring the Rs 56,000 shown on the Instagram account to their own bank account, the fraudsters asked the victim to transfer Rs 30,000. The victim complied, but no funds were credited to their bank account. As a result, the individual lost a total of Rs 70,000 in the scam.
