Advani in Mumbai, Consoles Survivors

Mumbai, Jul 14 (IANS): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani Thursday visited the sites rocked by blasts the previous evening and also met those injured in the terror attack.

A grim-faced Advani drove straight from the airport to Zaveri Bazar and Opera House, two of the three sites hit by the bombings, said party spokesperson Madhav Bhandari, who accompanied him.

Also in attendance were senior leaders like Eknath Khadse, Pandurang Phundkar, state BJP chief Sudhir Mungantiwar, state party general secretary Vinod Tawade and Kirit Somaiya.

Arriving a few hours after union Home Minister P. Chidambaram, Advani went around the blast sites and interacted briefly with the locals.

He also went to the state-run GT Hospital and met some of those who were injured.

Advani will also be visiting the Sir J.J. Hospital as well as Dadar, the site of the third blast, Bhandari said.

At least 17 people were killed and 131 injured in the blasts Wednesday evening.
