Kundapur, May 25: A fishing boat, named Durgaparameshwari Rukmayya and owned by Sandeep Tholar, a resident of Bengre, encountered an accident while fishing at the Parampalli Padukare seashore within the limits of Saligrama Panchayat on Wednesday evening.

The boat's engine malfunctioned due to a stuck fan, forcing it to drift towards the shoreline amidst strong winds. Despite the efforts of nearby boats to come to its rescue, the boat ultimately collided with the deck on the shore.

Fortunately, all the workers on board were rescued by the crew of the neighboring boat, averting any loss of life. However, the boat itself, along with its valuable catch of fish worth several lcs of rupees and the accompanying tools, sank, resulting in an estimated overall loss of approximately Rs 12 lacs.
