Mumbai, Jul 16: Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan has come to the rescue of home minister R R Patil amid widespread criticism over the failure of home ministry following Wednesday July 13 Mumbai blasts.
Chavan insisted that R R Patil has been doing extremely well in handling the post-blast situation and ensuring that the investigatons are being carried out smoothly.
The comments came after an all-party meet following the blasts.
Chavan also said that Patil has been monitoring the situation closely with the cooperation of deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.
R R Patil has been under fire for not implementing enough security measures post the 2008 terror attack.
Earlier, the chief minister had stated that the home ministry was with the coalition partner NCP and not with the Congress, a comment which had stirred up controversy. He had told a new channel that the Congress should keep the home portfolio as it would not delay the process of decision making.
His comments were criticised by the NCP, after which Chavan clarified the matter.
