Kundapur, Jun 6: Thieves, who entered the Kollur temple premises in the guise of devotees, stole Rs 4.75 lac worth golden ornaments from the vanity bag of a female devotee.
Praveen, his wife Vanishree and their children, natives of Kerala, now living in Suratkal had arrived at Kollur temple on Sunday. As no one was there at home, they took all the 13.5 sovereign gold in a small purse and kept the same in the vanity bag of his wife. After taking darshan of Goddess Mookambika at 11 am, the family came out of the campus of the temple at 11.30 am. They were shocked to see that the zip of Vanishree’s vanity bag was opened.
On checking it came to light that the small purse in which the golden ornaments were kept was missing. The stolen golden ornaments included a golden chain weighing 7.5 sovereign, two bangles weighing three sovereign, golden chain weighing 1.5 sovereign, a golden bangle weighing half sovereign, four pairs of ear hangings weighing one sovereign. The total weight of the stolen ornaments is 13.5 sovereign (108 grams) valued at Rs 4.75 lac.
Kollur police have registered a case in this regard.
