Udupi: MLA Sunil Kumar slams state govt’s decision to revise text books

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (TP)

Udupi, Jun 7: Sunil Kumar, MLA Karkala, over the state government’s decision to revise the school text books said, “I am surprised that they are making changes in the syllabus. It is necessary to have topics related to patriotism, culture and nationality in education, but the present state government is making some changes.”

Tweeting on the subject, he further aid, “What type of education do they expect to deliver? Are they trying to favour the Gandhi family who made Siddaramaiah the chief minister for the second time or trying to bring the Macaulay system of education? This is unfortunate. I request the state government to give good governance for the betterment of future and not in the favour of the people who gave you power. It has been only a month you came to power. Do not make changes in all the departments within a month. Give at least three months’ time for authorities to know their departments. If they delete the chapters related to patriotism, people will oppose it and we, the members of the BJP will protest against it.”

“Instead of ordering education minister Madhu Bangarappa to make changes in the syllabus, allow him to know about his department. Firstly understand the problem of teachers and students and then give out the statement that ‘even I was a teacher’. It looks like a third person is controlling the education department,” he said.
