Mangaluru: Resume writing hands-on training, demo on facing interviews held at GFGC, Kavoor

Mangaluru, Jun 20: In order to enhance the skills of the students, a hands-on training on resume writing and a demo on facing interviews was organized for final year B Com and BA students, jointly by the Department of Commerce & Management, Placement Cell and Department of English on June 20, under the guidance of IQAC.

Dr Malini Hebbar, retired associate professor of English and principal, Swasthika National School, Mangaluru was the resource person.

Initially at the formal programme, Dr Malini Hebbar highlighted the importance of writing an attractive resume in the competitive job market and skill of facing the interview with self-confidence.

During the training session, Dr Malini Hebbar gave insights on making the resume attractive. She informed the students about the contents to be included in a resume and insisted on presenting factual data in the reverse chronological order. She briefed about Applicant Tracking System used by the companies and showed some well-known resumes for the reference of the students. Later, she gave useful tips to face the job interviews confidently and summarized the do’s and don’ts during the interview. With the help of the faculty members, Dr Malini Hebbar demonstrated an interview by conducting a mock interview. At the end, students clarified their doubts by raising queries. In all, 40 students participated in the programme.

The formal programme was presided over by the principal Dr Shivarama P. Anusha of II BA compeered the programme, Sanjotha of III B Com welcomed the gathering and Mohammad Nihan proposed a vote of thanks.
