Mangaluru, Jun 21: St Mary’s English Higher Primary School celebrated International Yoga Day on June 21.
The event began with brief introduction on Yoga Day and welcoming the guests of honour Sr Maisie AC the headmistress and Sr Gracy A C the assitant headmistress by the school cabinet sports minister Aastha. The inauguration of the celebration began by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries Sr Maisie, Sr Gracy, Kavitha Ashok the yoga instructor, TVinitha the PET and Aastha the minster for sports.
The inaugural speech was given by Hajira Musba the ASPL on the theme 'Har Ghar Yoga Aangan' emphasizing the importance of yoga and physical exercises in daily life. Oath was taken up by the students. A group of students from class 5 to 7 performed several asanas. Highlighting a few captions on yoga by the students and the performance of yogasanas in the dance form by two lovely sisters Pernelle Menezes of Class 5 and Pearl Menezes of class 3 added beauty to the show.
Sr Maisie the headmistress gave soothing message to practice regular yoga in order to remain physically fit and to maintain harmony between body, mind and soul.
Dhrithi TSA, member of the school cabinet proposed the vote of thanks. The celebration ended with a huge success under the guidance of Kavitha Ashok and Vinitha. The whole programme was compered by Veera.
