Udupi, Jul 5: Incessant rains from the past two days in Udupi has caused heavy flood in low lying areas of Moodanidambur, Bannanje here.
Heavy water logging is reported here and the roads are submerged. Locals are locked inside their houses and motorists are struggling to move their vehicles. Daily wagers were seen walking in the water which was above knee level. The Moodanidambur temple is also flooded.
The people in this area face hardship during monsoon as it floods every year. As the authorities here, cleared the drainage in the area, the flood level is low compared to the previous year. If the rain continues for a day more, then the rain water may enter the houses in this area. The rain water has reached above sea level and causing flood in different areas of Udupi.
